Filiopietistic Point of View
Conventional people may find this absurd since they believe that it is a deviation from the traditional practice. For years they have been harbored by their beliefs that during wedding ceremony and receptions, solemnity is to be observed so as not to ruin the whole significance of the event. Little do they know that in this modern age, many couples opt to have games during receptions so as not to bore their guests. The traditional people, like the elderly, the parents of the bride and groom and other not-so-old relatives who still has a hang up with the traditions might object to this idea. They consider this as a perversion of the orthodox ways of celebrating a wedding.
Extraordinaire Ensemble of Games
A good array of games is to be prepared and this is not an easy task since not all games are enjoyable. Some may find some games boring at all but don’t be disheartened if some of the guests did not participate. Well, here are a handful of games that you can use. You may find some of these familiar and simple which is totally okay, so that the guests can already have an idea on what the game is all about.
Name that tune - The title says it all. Make a list of songs and ask the band (if you do have one) to play a stanza or two of that particular song, Then, whoever wants to guess the title of the song must raise his or her hand or better yet come up to the front and say the correct title of the song. If hired a disc jockey instead of a band then that would really be better since they already have a boatful of songs up in their pockets.
Who said that? - In this game you have to really prepare this ahead of time. Make a list of popular lines both in local and international movies. Of course, the whole point of the game is to guess which actor or actress said that line in a movie. You can also add a twist by asking on what movie did that line came from.
Scamble em’ letters - This is a very simple game, actually a no-sweat-at-all game. Start by distributing a piece of paper and a pen or pencil to the guests. Ask them to write as many words as they can use the letters in the names of the couple. Of course, there is a time limit; it is up to you to decide on that. When the time is up, mention a number then ask the guests to raise their hand if they have come with the exact amount of words, then continue to go higher until nobody raises their hand. The guest with the highest number of words wins.
